The Internship

Kyungsoo froze in his spot. He couldn't really believe what he was hearing. He was wringing his hands in nervousness just a minute ago, his heart beating a million beats per minute. But now it felt like his heart had just stopped beating.
"I think Do Kyungsoo's marketing plan will be more successful."
He hadn't dreamt it. The marketing director had definitely said that. And the others, including his father, had unanimously agreed.
Not only had his Jackal scheme worked, it had been chosen over Seungsoo's. His chest swelled in pride. For once, he had bested his brother. He felt like he was on top of the world.
His fingers twitched, aching to text Seorin the news. But he politely stood in place, bowing gracefully in gratitude.
"Seungsoo, Kyungsoo, why don't you both follow me?" Their father spoke, gesturing them to come along. They followed the CEO in silence to his office. Kyungsoo glanced at Seungsoo, who still didn't spare him a glance. He had expected his older brother to throw a fit, or at least show some signs of anger. But his brother was so calm and collected. If he didn't know any better, he would have thought that Seungsoo didn't even care.
They took a seat on the separate couches as usual. Their father faced them with a warm smile. "I'm very proud of both of you." He looked at Seungsoo. "You have always pulled your weight for this company and more. I couldn't expect any more from you, Seungsoo."
Then his head turned to his younger son. "And Kyungsoo, you surprised me this year, son."
Kyungsoo looked away bashfully, secretly beaming. "Your true potential has finally revealed itself this year. I have been waiting for this all along," his father said. "I always knew you had what it takes to bring this company to new heights."
Seungsoo's eyebrow raised at the CEO's words. He couldn't believe it, but his father was definitely going somewhere he didn't expect.
"I've decided..." CEO Do announced. "... That Kyungsoo should also have a chance at the spot to lead Kangdo." He paused. "I know, Seungsoo. This may seem unfair to you. But this is something I've always considered for a long time. I didn't think Kyungsoo was interested, so I didn't push it. But now seeing his change of heart, I've decided this is what is best for our company." He gave them a stern look. "But keep in mind, both of you. This is a family company - and it always will be."
The sons knew what their father was emphasizing. He was implying that either of them leaving the company due to losing the CEO spot to the other would be unacceptable.
Kyungsoo's heart was soaring. Basically, don't be a sore loser when I win, Hyung, he thought confidently.
He couldn't believe he was now in the running to lead Kangdo. He had never even dreamed of it prior to this summer, but now he felt like he could accomplish anything if he set his mind
